The two practices that I have found most helpful that we have reviewed in this class are the loving kindness exercise and meditation. The loving kindness exercise has made me aware of the power of love. That in showing love and feeling love toward myself and others, I begin to heal. I will continue to use this practice by trying to foster a love for myself and others through constant awareness of the process of healing that this can help to grow. For instance, I can do the practice on the CD, I can serve others thus growing my love, and I can consciously choose to foster love for myself. I have found that meditation is an excellent tool for the growth of the subtle mind and inner peace in my life. Through meditation I can gain a greater awareness of where I am physically, mentally, and spiritually. I can implement this continually by setting aside specific time during my days and weeks that is dedicated to meditation. Through this this I will continue to further my journey toward wholeness in health.

I also am finding that through meditation that I have developed a greater awareness as well. It is just very mind calming for me. Sometimes I can just feel very overwhelmed and stressed, but now I feel like my life is alot better than it used to be because I am more relaxed. I also contribute that to that I am just solely focused on school now and not working. It has really helped.

ReplyDeleteI found the loving kindness and meditation the most helpful. I am practicing acts of love and kindness. I especially practice loving kindness with family members, loved ones, friends and co-workers. I have learned so much from my peers in this unit. I really need to set aside days like you do. Have a great week.
Great post and examples! I enjoy the loving kindness and meditation as well. I can listen to the CD's or just serving others will do and make us more aware. This will work for anyone including our clintell. These exercises will make anyone feel love and just better about themselves. I feel anything that has a positive effect has to be good for everyone. I have no suggestions at this time, just keep on practicing and doing what you are doing.

ReplyDeleteI too thought that the loving kindness experience was excellent! It changed how I view many things and how I approach people. I have found that people respond well to being treated with love! It seems like such a simple concept but it is one that is easily forgotten.

ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you are finding the meditation practices useful. I too need to find more time in my day for practices. It is very difficult at times. I soon am going to have more of a somewhat normal life when I graduate in a couple of weeks. Or as normal as it can be with a new job, continued school, a boyfriend, and 3 small children. Who knew!!! lol. I am glad that you found the loving kindness to be useful to you. It is to me only in certain circumstances that the exercises with that section are beneficial.
