Spiritual wellness allows us to fully embrace overall wellness including mental and physical wellness. It allows us to deepen the experience of better health and to flourish as human beings. With this flourishing our mental stress are diminished and our physical wellbeing in enhanced. For instance, by understanding our connection to God, others, and the world around us, we are better able to understand our place in this world. We are then able to let go of the uneasiness that comes with confusion of identity and the stress of trying to be something that we are not. By letting go of these things we can also let go of the mental anguish that comes with them. In turn, the release from the mental anguish can help us to avoid stress induced physical health problems such as high blood pressure or ulcers.
Casey, there are many people (one person in our class posted something recently) that don't understand the "connection to God". In your own words, how would you instruct someone to do so? As I read the blog post from our classmate, I thought to myself... wow, how do you explain that? If someone has not developed that relationship, without reading scripture, how do you explain it?
ReplyDeleteDear WellnessForYou...
ReplyDeleteIf I am understanding your question, you are asking me how to understand our connection to God even if we do not have a relationship with Him. My answer is conditional:
The condition in understanding our connection with God has to do first of all with whether or not an individual acknowledges His existence. For my own part, I have a firm belief in God and I do have a relationship with Him. However, I do believe that an individual can acknowledge the existance of God and not have a relationship with Him. Therefore, in the case of the individual with the relationship I would say that our connection with God lies in such a relationship and is interpretted therein. For the individual that does not have a relationship wiht God yet does acknowledge His existance, they can still find some connection to God as creator of the beauty of the earth or a great power, etc. This individual would have acknowledged that God does exist and there connection would come from who they then believe that He is in relation to their existance and vice versa.
Well said! I loved how you explained the correlations in tying everything together and explaining our exsistance. Also, I loved the response to the previous post. I will use your explaination when I have to explain my faith. I support and agree with everything you said. I feel my experience is the exact same. I learned from your verbage on how to explain things better to others on my faith. Thank-you for sharing!!!
